Robert Laynton has spent over forty five years exploring spirituality. He has gained an Honours degree in psychology and post graduate qualifications in counselling. For a time he was a member of the British Psychological Society and contributed to their Transpersonal Psychology Journal. His books and blog entries are mainly focused on Christianity – drawing as they do from his personal studies and experience – but he also refers to other religious and spiritual traditions, to ‘Inner Spiritual’ or mystical traditions and to psychology, drawing from thinkers such as Shankara, Ibn al-Arabi, Meister Eckhart, Jan van Ruysbroeck, David Waite, George Kelly, Arthur Deikman and Karen Armstrong.
